I like to be held, I like company, I like to laugh with a friend. People may not know what to do or say around one who is ill; I don't like to be told everything will be okay, it's patronizing - albeit innocent, unless you are psychic, you don't know. I can imagine its hard for people to be with one who is ill, but it's a matter of "How can I be support you, what can I do for you?" Being there is what matters, and wanting to be there is what's felt.
