Welcome! I'm Chiara, triple negative breast cancer survivor; here is my journey, I hope it helps you!

CALL ME!

CALL ME!

I posted my diagnosis on Facebook: I wanted my online family to know so I could receive support; I'm a social person, I feed off of others. Dozens of posts promised prayers and well wishes and the phone rang sporadically. Bemused, out of the handful of (breast) cancer survivors I know, only one stays in touch (thank you, Adrienne!) I wonder: do they not know I want to be called? Evidently, if someone is going through something I've experienced, I extend a helping hand. I reached out: "Please call me/keep in touch." Barbara replied, "Glad you told me! When I had cancer I was reserved and didn't tell many people - I didn't want phone calls." I discovered not everyone reacts to illness the same, therefore I clearly and specifically ask for what I want: I posted on social media that I welcome contact, and received just that. Those few survivors, however, still don't reach out: baffling.
